ID Fiber Optic Probe

Tired of needing a different probe to measure every culture condition within your bioreactor? Frustrated with finicky equipment that requires repeated recalibrations?

Tired of needing a different probe to measure every culture condition within your bioreactor? Frustrated with finicky equipment that requires repeated recalibrations?

Designed to fit a standard bioreactor port, the ID·Fiber Optic Probe has three individual channels sized to fit SBI’s ID·Fiber Optic Cables. Single-use, disposable, and preloaded with optical sensors for pH and DO, you’ll never have to worry about sensor maintenance again. Use two ID·Fiber Optic Cables to measure pH and DO and insert a temperature probe of your choice into the third channel. By incorporating sensing of three conditions into one unit, the ID·Fiber Optic Probe is an easy to use, minimally invasive alternative to standard pH and dissolved oxygen measurement devices.

pH and DO – Set of 5
  • Includes ID·Sensors pH and DO
Description

How to set up the ID • Fiber Optic Kit with the ID • Fiber Optic Probe Accessory

The ID • Fiber Optic Probe is designed to thread into bioreactor culture systems and has three interior channels for taking pH, DO, and temperature measurements. The channels are sized to fit the fiber optic cables, as well as a standard probe thermometer.

  1. Install ID • Data Hub software onto your computer.
  2. Plug USB cable from ID • Converter into your computer.
  3. Plug cable from ID • Fiber Optic Reader into
ID • Converter and place reader near the culture vessel.
  4. Thread the ID • Fiber Optic Probe into a port on the culture vessel.
  5. Remove the cap from the ID • Fiber Optic Probe and feed the fiber optic cables into the probe channels with preloaded ID • Sensors pH and DO. Note which cable (A or B) corresponds to which sensor type (pH or DO).
  6. Insert a customer-provided thermometer into the ID • Fiber Optic Probe’s third channel (optional).
  7. Ensure the cable ends are flush with the bottom of each channel.
  8. Ensure the ID • Sensor pH is completely submerged in liquid as the sensor must be completely saturated to return accurate readings.
Use the ID • Fiber Optic Probe in the following systems:
  • Small to large scale commercial bioreactors
  • Shake flasks
  • Custom bioreactors

What size port does the
ID • Fiber Optic Probe fit?

The ID·Fiber Optic Probe fits in a standard bioreactor port through a PG13.5 thread connection.

Do I have to calibrate the probe prior to use?

Nope! Because the probe is designed to house SBI’s fiber optic cables and comes preloaded with ID • Sensors, you just insert the probe into your bioreactor and you’re ready to go.

Where are the sensors? Do I need to place them myself?

The ID • Fiber Optic Probe comes with ID • Sensors for both pH and DO already attached to the end of the probe that will interact with the culture media. Each sensor is aligned to one of the three available channels, leaving an extra channel for temperature measurements.

Can I reuse the probe and sensors?

The ID • Fiber Optic Probe and ID • Sensors are designed to be single use.
